More of a project than an actual band, Misc is the consequence of the occasional songwriting of Badman label head Dylan Magierek. He is often joined by artists Tim Mooney (American Music Club), D. Ahearn (ill lit) and Andrew Mullen (Subzone). Bruce Kaphan (ex- AMC) and Rebecca Gates have contributed to songs as well.
Misc has been featured on several compilations such as Amos House 2 (wishingtreerecords.com)-which featured Spoon, Wheat, Elliott Smith and others, Shanti Project Collection, Badman's Bedtime Maladies and I Could Live in Hope - A Tribute to Low (http://fractured-discs.com).
"I started Misc back in the mid 1990's as an outlet for experimenting with recording machines, instruments and effects. I would record mostly in the dark, just working by the lights of the tape deck and delay units' L.E.D.s. I think you tend to create music that is very visual, with a weighty atmosphere, when you work like that. I would then often ask a great vocalist or other musicians to take the sounds further and create a realized song. I think that is especially evident on the ones that were created with D.Ahearn, such as the tracks on our 2004 Summer Sampler and the Low Tribute." - Magierek.
